Solitary Branches
The photo series "Solitary Branches" explores the graceful movement and subtle harmony of found branches in the forest, which can stand on their own. Each photo in the series shows a single branch, placed against a black background, but it is the repetition and gradual shifting of the positions that create a sense of movement and dynamism. I have used subtle changes in composition and perspective to enhance the illusion of movement. The background of each photo remains the same, focusing on the changing pose of the branch and the undulating dynamics that arise from the repeated images.
The series invites the viewer to meditate on the fragility of balance in nature, and how even the smallest disturbances can lead to a mesmerizing choreography of movement. Through the simplicity of the subject matter and the subtle changes in the images, “Solitary Branches” evokes a sense of tranquility and contemplation, reminding us to appreciate the beauty found in life's seemingly mundane moments.
To me, photography is about drawing attention to unnoticed things. An important part of my work is drawing attention to details that often remain invisible or inconspicuous and show that they are also interesting or beautiful. It is often about people or things or parts of them that stand out or fascinate me and because there is an unexpected quality to it if you look closely. Sometimes it is details or properties that I magnify that create an interesting form or composition.
