My interest in landscape as design inspiration began when I was studying Textiles and Fashion at the University of Southampton’s Winchester School of Art in the 1970s. The school is situated on the edge of water meadows with fields of reeds, rivers and trees. My thesis title ‘Thoughts on Landscape’ included sections on

- Earth: Distance and Horizon, Ideal Places, Garden, Field and Desert

- Air: Wind, Clouds and the Colour of Time

- Water: Sea, River, Rain, Snow, Mist and Fog

These elements have always inspired my photography practice. In my current work, the pattern and repetition of forests, Holloway’s and the windblown trees of Dorset and Sussex dominate.
